The Similan National Park
The Similan National park is situated 70km from Khao Lak Thailand.
The Similan islands consists of 9 granite rock islands, gaining its name from the Pattani Malay word for nine.
The Similan islands became a National Marine Park in 1989. Later in 1998, Koh Bon and Koh Tachai was added bringing the protected area to 140 sq km. Only 14 sq km of this is land! Thailand government understand and protect the precious marine life for us all to see for generations to come.
There are two National Park offices in the Similan Islands on island number 4 Koh Miang and Island Number 8 Koh Similan. On both of these islands it is possible to camp and enjoy sleeping in one of the most beautiful places on earth!

These islands are so special that even the Princess of Thailand has a “cabin” on island number 4!
The diving in the Similan Islands is either on one of the many beautiful hard coral reefs on the east of the islands, as during the monsoon season this side is protected from the diverse weather conditions or the granite boulders on the west and points of the islands.
Koh Bon is famous for watching the Mantas coming in to be cleaned, it is common to see multiple Mantas on one dive.
Koh Tachai
Koh Tachai has the possibility for everything, a nice gentle reef dive looking for the leopard sharks or the Pinnacle with its amazing granite rock formations looking for the Manatas and Whale sharks!
The Similan National Park has something for every diver or snorkeller from the abundant Macro life, huge schools of fish, Turtles, reef sharks, leopard sharks, Mantas and Whale sharks the Similans is a must on every divers wish list!
