They have hidden talents that you never expected. This was the case with my good friend Dom. An english man staying in Thailand. I’m getting my shop ready for the high season in Khao lak and I’m trying to make my shop more inviting. The name of my shop is called Pirate Diver so, what ever I did, I wanted it to have a pirate feel. I really liked the idea of a wooden sign for outside the shop. Last year I found a piece of wood in the street that nobody was using. So I carried it home and left it in the back of my shop for over a season.  Dom came into Pirate Divers shop to say hi and I showed him the piece of wood. I thought he could make a fence with it. Maybe you could write something on it. Stop people walking through the shop to the market place. He had some free time on his hands and  pick up the wooden plank and left, saying. “I will give it a go”

As I said earlier. Sometimes people will amaze you. I never expected the sign to be so good. Remember this was Dom first time whittling a piece of  wood. So when Dom cam back to pirate Divers. I was expecting a fence with  some kind of design on it.

That Piece of discarded wood, turned out to be
iron wood. The wood has a natural reddish colour
which you see as it was whittled. The whole process took around a week from start to finish. One coat of clear lacquer and the sign was finished. A huge Thanks to Dom your a genius!
