Shark Guardian in Khao Lak, Thailand
So, last night I went along so to see a presentation by Shark Guardian in Khao lak. Brendon from, south Africa and Liz, from England are the founders of this organisation. There aim is to Stop the butchering of all the sharks in our oceans. They explained that there are 500 different types of sharks in are waters .You may think of sharks as, man-eating animals of the sea, but in truth, only 3% of shark — a small minority — are known to attack humans. The night was a great success with every one learning something new about these amazing creatures.
Did You know!
- In the right circumstances, a female shark can reproduce without any contact from a male shark. This is called Parthenogenesis.
-
The whale shark is the largest species and pygmy sharks is among the smallest. They average around 8 inches in length and can make their own light, a phenomenon that’s especially helpful as pygmy sharks will dive more than a mile underwater to hunt
.
Great to hear you enjoyed the presentation and you learnt something! Sharks are truly amazing creatures. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and cool videos with more people in Khoa Lak over the coming months.
