Open Water Course Khao Lak, Thailand, Pool Session
When You are teaching a diving course. Diving Organisation such as. PADI, SSI, or CMAS. All have their own programs, that you have to follow. To day with David we are doing – A PADI Open Water Course. David has finished watching DVDs 1-3 and know we are doing the pool session for day one. The Open Water course is a four-day program.
Everything was checked and now we are ready to go into the pool. By using the giant stride technique. I demonstrated how to enter the pool and will David copy. Standing close to the pool, with one foot pointing straight a head of you and the other foot at an 90 degree angle. Left hand on your weight belt, right hand on your regulator. Looking straight ahead – not down. If you look down, then you face will hit the water first. Count 1,2, and on 3. you jump by swinging your right foot around in front of you and taking a giant step forward. Fully inflate your BCD, so you are now floating on the surface. Easy!
Some of the skills to-day will be :
- snorkel/regulator exchange (on the surface)
- regulator clearing
- regulator recovery
- clear a partially flooded mask
- alternate air source
- equalization
The first day in the pool is very important. This is where David will gain the confidence and realize that he can breath underwater with scuba equipment. After Lunch, I watch Davis assemble his diving equipment again.
Some of the skills to-day will be:
- 5 point descent
- fully flooded mask
- mask replacement
- disconnect low pressure inflator hose
- BCD oral inflation hose
- Air depletion
- weight removal(surface)
The first day of an open water course is always tiring But a lot of fun!
