Egypt versus the Similan Islands

Egypt versus the Similan Islands. This year has been very unusual in Khao Lak. There have been many customers who have come to the Similans expecting  to go diving and think it is going to be the same as  diving in Egypt. Similan  Islands is quite different from Egypt in many ways. Firstly, the Similan Islands are 68 km from the mainland. 80 minutes by speed boat and over two hours by a slow boat. So cost of petrol will always be an issue. Secondly, dive companies have always had to pay Marine park fees, 700 Baht for a diver and 500 Baht for a snorkelers per day. This makes diving in the Similan Islands more expensive than diving in Egypt.

When a customer comes in Pirate Divers and inquires about multiple dives and their prices. I  know they have been diving in Egypt. As an independent dive shop. I advise them on where is the best dive sites. Choose wisely but a Similan  Liveaboards will always be the best option. Per dive it works out much cheaper. Most importantly you experience the morning and night/sunset dives. With Liveaboards there are so many options Budget range, Mid range and luxury range. 2 day/1 night, 2day/2night 3day/3night   4day/4night  5day / 5night and 7day / 7 night.
