Khao lak Liveaboards

Majority of khao lak liveaboards will leave from Tabla Mu Pier every day to the Similan Islands. Departure time fom the pier, is generally between 9:00 – 10:00 pm.

Travel time can rang from 6 hours to 8 hours.

Customers pick – up time, depends on where they are staying. The further your hotel is away from the pier, the earlier the pick up time is. You are then transported to your Khao lak liveaboard by mini van. Here is where you will be met the other customers you will be diving with.

The crew chef or trip leader will give a boat briefing. This will tell you where you are sleeping. Where the toilets are. What time breakfast is severed. What time your first dive is at. You will also be shown where to set up your diving equipment.

Khao lak Liveaboards

After the dinner is served you can sit back and relax and finally meet the other divers on your Khao lak Liveaboards. Here you will also met the people who you will be diving with. These diving groups can be changed.after your first dive.

The trip leader will ask all dive masters after the first dive. What their dive group was like.

It is important to get the right balance with in a dive group.

If customers have a camera, it is best if they are in a group together. Otherwise, other divers are stuck waiting for them to take a picture.

If you are heavier on air – order a 15liter tank.

Diving experience

Open water divers can have over 100 dives and an advanced diver can have 11 dives. This can have the effect of an unbalanced dive group. Where newly certified open water divers are diving with experienced open water divers. This will lead to a short dive time for the experienced open water diver. At Pirate Diver we organize our dive groups by certification level but more importantly by dive experience.

Diving certification – I always advise customers. who are an open water diver, to either take an Advance Open Water course or an Adventure Deep. which will allow you to go to 30 meters.

Most of the Khao lak Liveaboards will insist on divers taking the adventure deep.Which allows you to go to 30Meters.
Price is 1,500 baht which is not expensive.

This makes the diving groups more balanced. Divers who are open waters divers that are limited to 18meters. A chance to explore the deeper parts of the Similan Islands.
