Tao and Alex came into Pirate Divers late one night. Alex was already a diver with 20 plus dives and Tao had never tried diving before. They wanted to dive the Similan Islands. I explained that Tao could become a DSD (discover Scuba Diver). His instructor would be Aleks and he would explain all the skills he would have to perform and that he was in safe hands. Tao began to be curious about the Open Water course in the Similans and what it entailed. Should he do the DSD which has no certification level, but only takes one day or start an open water course. Which takes four days but has a certification, which would last a life time and allow you to dive to 18 meters. Tao and Yi started to talk – which I later found, was mandarin.

They decided to think about it and come back to Pirate Divers shop tomorrow and tell me either, Tao would do the DSD or he would start the Open Water course that evening.

Tao And Alex are two of the nicest guy you could meet. I was delighted when Tao told me he wanted to start the open Water course that very evening. So the course started with five DVD to watch. The course would be made slightly more difficult because I advised Tao to do Chinese Open Water Course  in English. The reason why i think it’ better to do the course in English is because, where every Tao dives next. There might not be a Chinese instructor available and the words for BCD, fins and regulator would be different obviously from Chinese to English and generally there will always be an English speaker where ever he dives next. He agreed. Alek his Instructor is from Serbia and later on we found out that. Tao not only speaks Mandarin and English but Also Serbian. So it was karma that he chose Pirate Diver to do his Open Water course with a Serbian Instructor.

Tao completed the pool session the next day. His Instructor was impressed with Toa abilities under water. Toa an Alex decided to complete the open water course on a 2day/1night liveaboard. Which would give Alex 6 dives instead of 4 dives on a day trip. and Tao would have more time with his instructor. The next day they joined the liveaboard. I’m sure Tao was a little nervous on his first dive, as most people are.Yi - Similan Diving

The amazing thing was that both Tao and Alex had Manta on their dives. Alex did join Tao on some of his dives and they enjoyed the whole experience of the underwater world.

They are really lovely guys and both of them are really funny. I hope Pirate Divers gets to meet them again. Either in the Similan Islands or somewhere else underwater.
